Understanding All About Post Production Studios

By Nolan Tornes

Most people have no clue of the processes involved in the making of motions pictures such as movies, documentaries and adverts. Creating music is also not just going into a studio, doing the song then in the next few minutes a CD is out. Refining the product is an integral part and it is wise to understand what happens in post production studios.

It is worthy to note that a good storyline alone does not propel a movie to the top of the world charts. The actors used might also be fine and famous. But the final product is what matters most. Sound and dialogue must be perfect and should match with the pictures at particular timelines.

Sometimes, these movies or documentaries require translations either in audio or subtitles. It is up to the post production expert to see to it that it is done successfully. This aspect has become so important today because different audiences prefer to watch motion pictures in a language they understand better.

Large studios have managed to acquire equipments that can successfully add special features to productions. They can integrate theme songs, create stunts and add visuals to achieve a certain effect as described in the storyline. With a top notch team at this stage, it is possible to come up with the most fascinating movies and documentaries.

Movies take a long time to shoot. They can even take up to a year depending with how complex they are. Some scenes are shot at the same location are meant to appear at different times in the movie. It is possible to shoot such scenes on the same day and they will later be put at their appropriate timelines during the post production.

Similar processes take place in studios specialized for audio productions. Sometimes, musicians do collaborations but are never in the studio on the same day. This means that the song they record needs a thorough editing process to make it flawless and enjoyable. Also, when large groups like choirs cannot fit into a small studio, only singers of the same voice can be attended to at a particular time. Then the song is merged and released in a fine form.

It is also good to understand the working of post production studios with syncing music and videos all shot and recorded at different times. Many times, studios share responsibility depending with areas of specialty. Thus, a music video is worked on by a different studio and the audio is taken care of by another company.
